Research at the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS) is strongly focused on Arctic issues. As the world’s northernmost university, UNIS is a unique platform where researchers and students have access to field-based research and education in a part of the Arctic that is otherwise not easy to get to. UNIS has four research departments: Arctic biology, Arctic technology, Arctic geology, and Arctic geophysics. Together they conduct research covering a wide spectrum – from the seabed to the upper atmosphere.
